Chasing Dreams and UNESCO World Heritage Sites Amidst a Pandemic (Part 2)

Part 2: Manchester

Manchester was our home base! We arrived and everyone was tired, jet lagged, and ready to sleep. Well, everyone except Tyler and I. We showered up and decided to hit one of my favorite things about traveling abroad... the local neighborhood pub.

In my many travels to Europe, my favorite thing to do is visit the local pub. Germany. Italy. England. Prague. Iceland. Norway. Every single place I have visited, the conversations and friendships were cultivated right at the local pub.

Its different there than it is here. What I mean by that is there is such a wide variety of people and social classes all at the pub enjoying each others company. Here in the US it is far more segregated by social class and where you choose to throw back a few. I love Europe for this.

Tyler and I walked to the closest pub and found two of our favorite things! Messy chips and Strongbow Dark Fruit Cider. Strongbow, if you are reading this... for the love of GOD please bring that to the states. Messy chips are fries covered in all kinds of things but mostly BBQ meat and cheese.

We dove head first into making the most of our trip and creating many memories as fast as we could. This wasn't the first time we took a side trip apart from everyone.

Manchester served as the home base for our 14 day trip and we loved the house we stayed in. The next day was Liverpool for the Everton v Manchester United game, a prelude to the pinnacle game we had come for.

Walking, shopping, drinking, and exploring all happened in Manchester in great quantities.

Manchester was amazing but Liverpool and the Lakes District stole my heart. That's where we started this insane itinerary began and we started bagging UNESCO World Heritage Sites!

We threw back several beers and a couple plates of food, then headed back to the house. Liverpool and 13 miles of walking laid ahead. It was time to hit the hay and get some sleep.
